A Thrilling Adventure Novel

"No one was watching when Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, disappeared."

In trying to help the stranger, Fynn Swart is entangled in a battle with a psychopathic serial killer, a murderous gangster, and a corrupt secret service agent all bent on destroying or co-opting the young cryptocurrency. As he comes to terms with his personal history of grief and alienation, he is forced to navigate a geopolitical and criminal intrigue that forms around the epoch-defining innovation: Bitcoin.
Fynn explores the key philosophical and economic elements that make Bitcoin imperative for human flourishing. Satoshi provides a Trojan Horse-Orange Pill that evokes the embodied experience of the Bitcoin domain while a pulsating, gripping narrative propels the pair forward.
Love and Grief; Death and Life; Chaos and Hope; Violence and Success- all form the backdrop to a deeper understanding of Bitcoin-and what it might mean.

about the author

Nicholas Nell is a father, healthcare practitioner, strength coach, martial artist and Bitcoiner. I have been a Bitcoiner my whole life, but had to wait for 2016 to discover it. Through thousands of connected interactions with people trying to be better and healthier I have acquired deep skills in facilitating healing, fostering care and inspiring people to be better humans.

These skills span acupuncture, herbal and homeopathic care, kettlebell, aikido, Katori Shinto Ryu, Goju Ryu, Jiu Jitsu, olympic lifting, trail running, parenting, and Bitcoin. I employ all of them to help people discover greater aliveness and vitality. I have used my three decades of successful practice, coaching and learning to imbue my writing with passion, insight and purpose. I thrive on using my investigation into life and meaning to help people find wisdom that is sometimes missed in the profusion of information. Nowhere has this been more important than partnering my wife in raising our four daughters to be strong and capable women.

bitcoin's first adventure textbook

“Nick Nell’s pacy, thoughtful romp imagines the disappearance of Satoshi Nakamoto (a pseudonym), the presumed philanthropist-genius developer of Bitcoin. Bitcoin – the tech which promises a marriage of innocence and money, a mode of lucre impervious to human stupidity.

Nell’s instructive take on this ignorance is made real through his characters, some of whom will disrupt your habit of sleeping when it’s dark. Their crime in a nutshell: the co-option of money by evil. And Satoshi’s cash, seemingly immune to such co-option, has justifiably rattled men in suits. In counterpoint to his take-down of money, Nell riffs rarefied, on Bitcoin as an attractor of goodness-writ-large, and perhaps even consciousness itself. The attractor draws the good guys too, and as they are elevated by Satoshi’s quiet authority and presence, they risk more-and-more to midwife the still-vulnerable technology.

Nell’s take on the world’s ills, their rootedness in the corruptibility of money, and the power of tech to circumvent this flaw is a heady cocktail, as is his quirky turn of phrase. He weaves some big philosophy into the action, and some strong, relatable characters who find love, courage and clarity as Bitcoin motivates and moves their being. By the end you’ll think differently about the world, about money, and perhaps about Jiu-Jitsu and cryptography. And you’ll hope, hugely, that Satoshi is okay, wherever he may be.”
